Professor Sadaf Farooqi receives The Obesity Society’s Research Achievement Award 2022
Congratulations to Sadaf Farooqi on delivering The Obesity Society’s Research Achievement Award presentation at the Obesity Week 2022 conference in San Diego, USA this week.
In her talk on ‘The genetic basis of appetite and body weight’ Sadaf discussed how genetic studies have shed light on the mechanisms which regulate appetite and body weight which in turn have led to the identification of subtypes of obesity amenable to precisions therapy and new targets for drug discovery.
The awards program was created over 10 years ago to promote, reward, and encourage research in the field of obesity, with the end goal of helping to improve the lives of those affected. Each award recognises the honoree for their scientific achievements and major contributions to the basic science, treatment and prevention of obesity.
